We start off the Week 2 schedule with a Thursday night throwdown between two old district rivals.
Lake City Columbia comes to Tallahassee's Gene Cox Stadium, ready to battle the Lincoln Trojans.
THE OUTLOOK -- Lincoln and Columbia have a rich traditional rivalry. The two shared the same district for several years with Jacksonville Sandalwood. During that time, those three schools combined for three out of five state championship game appearances in 6A.
Both teams are led by very mobile quarterbacks. Battle(Columbia) and Harvey (Lincoln) are able to move their offenses well. The biggest key here will be the defense.
Columbia's defense, led by Florida State commit Trey Marshall absolutely shut down Gainesville RB Tony James and managed to take control early and never let up. Lincoln has looked very good defensively, led by Louisville commit Jeff Williams. A shutout last week against a very good Pensacola team is proof. The Trojans were playing that game with virtually no prep time - having to play twice in five days.
So one has to wonder what head coach Yusuf Shakir will be able to do with a full seven days to prepare?
Look for plenty of offense, despite both teams having a very good defensive unit.
