Escambia o put up 70 points on Panama City Rutherford to improve their record to 3-0 on the season, with a 70-54 win over the Rams.
Gators running Back Danikiee Hollowell had a night for the record books, rushing for 433 yards and 5 touchdowns on 24 carries in the game, breaking former Escambia grad, Alabama great, and current Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson's old record of 419 yards.
Escambia as a whole had 718 yards of total offense in the game. Dallas David was a bright spot for Rutherford, who had 238 yards and three touchdowns passing, while adding 190 yards on the ground and a rushing score. The shootout ended with a 70-54 final after it was all said and done.
Escambia will face Pine Forest next week in their first district matchup, while Rutherford will face Arnold in its next game.
Catholic finds a way against Pensacola
The game of the night belonged to Pensacola Catholic facing Pensacola at Jim Scoggins Stadium, where both team's defenses were on display
Pensacola's defense was pressuring athletic standout at quarterback Cody Henry for Catholic all night long and stifled the Crusader running game. It wasn't till the third quarter where a reverse by Emon Smith gave the Crusader's their first score 40 yards out.
Henry would finally find some rhythm hooking up with junior wide out Dajuan Moorer for the only two scores of the game. As good as Pensacola's defense was the team struggles all night to stay consistent offensively.
The Crusaders (3-0) will travel to Panama City to face Bay for their first District matchup, while Pensacola(0-3) will face Milton in its first district meeting.
Navarre 28 Pace 19: The Raiders picked up their first win of the season over a struggling Pace team (0-3). Alex Wattley and Derrick Smith scored on 63 yard runs to give the Raiders a lead they would not relinquish, despite three touchdowns from Quaide Weimerskirch
Choctaw 31 Gulf Breeze 14: Quint Gornto's blocked punt resulted in a scoop and score by Sergio Castelan as the Indians (3-0) pulled away from Gulf Breeze (1-2). Josh Hicks has 122 yards rushing for the Indians.
Tate 35 Bay 21: The Tate Aggies (2-1) knocked off Bay (2-1) behind sophomore QB Sawyer Smith's three rushing and one passing touchdowns? Fort Walton Beach 15 Milton 14 - The Indians improved to 3-0 with a defensive win over Milton. FWB held the Panthers to eight yards total offense - according to the Pensacola News Journal? Niceville 37 Pine Forest 6 - Ashton Hooker threw three touchdown passes and ran for one more as the Eagles (3-0) downed Pine Forest (0-3)
