Wekiva (3-2, 1-1 in 7A-4) rushed for 305 yards in their 31-21 victory over the Lake Howell Silver Hawks (2-3, 1-1).
With QB Bert Bell out with a torn ACL that he suffered against Apopka, RB Deondre Fair, who carried the ball 28 times for 194 yards and three touchdowns, led the Wekiva Mustangs on offense. Fair spun off tackles all night to pick up extra yards after contact. Fair also completed two passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.
RB Jarvis Scott added 98 yards on the ground and collected a sack on defense. Scott had a 58-yard touchdown run that was called back on a holding call with 30 seconds left to play in the first half; however, the next play Deondre Fair ran in a 68-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-14.
With 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter, leading 24-21, Wekiva recovered an onside kick to give them the opportunity to close the game out. Deondre Fair completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Adkins on the ensuing drive.
QB Garrett Kruczek who completed 12 of 25 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns led Lake Howell on offense.
WR Caleem Joseph hauled in five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. Joseph also returned the opening kickoff for a 92-yard touchdown giving the Silver Hawks an early 7-0 lead.
WR Purcell Farquharson pulled in three catches for 76 yards and a touchdown.
