PLAYERS TO WATCH:
THE OUTLOOK Both teams have rolled through the early part of their district schedules. Columbia has outscored its three district opponents 169-26. White has won its first two district games by a combined 96-13, including a 48-0 shutout of Englewood.
The Commanders' defense will need to be on high alert in the first half. Columbia scores more than half of its 46.2 PPG in quarters one and two. Falling behind early and letting Underwood get through the front seven will cause problems for White's defense. The Tigers don't have much of a passing game, but a quick start from Underwood can change that. The secondary will have to be ready.
On the other side, White will need to play disciplined football to keep moving Columbia's defense backwards. They have the ability to do so, but few things drive a coach crazier than penalties. 11 penalties a game for over 120 yards: even worse. Ed White cannot play with the reckless abandon that has led to this stat.
Slowing down Columbia is the key - both offensively and defensively. Keep your eyes on the Johnson brothers - Josh (72) and Jordan (71) for the Commanders. They open the holes for Javaris Davis.
