TAMPA -- With 35 seconds left in the game, Jefferson head coach Jeremy Earle got the Gatorade bath from his players - as they clinched a playoff birth in district 8-6A.
Chamberlain dominated time of possession with the ground attack, and kept the up-tempo Jefferson offense on the sideline for a majority of the game. With just a few minutes left, Chamberlain knocked through a long-range field goal - giving the Chiefs a 24-22 lead.
Porter had a few big runs early on in the drive, but connected with Ohio commit Derrick Ingram for a big first down hook up.
With under a minute left, Porter connected with Ventell Bryant on a skinny post route for the game winning score.
The win over Chamberlain clinches a playoff birth for Jefferson, and they will likely matchup with Pinellas county power Largo in the first round of the playoffs. Jefferson is 7-1 on the season, with their lone loss of the season coming to the Armwood Hawks.
Armwood clinched the district with a 28-0 win over King.
