Class 2A Preview - all eight games

SOCIAL: Follow on Twitter | Friend on Facebook

Continuing our in-depth look at the 2012 Florida High School Athletic Association post-season, we break down the 'urban' division - also known as 2A.

The defending champ - North Florida Christian is back, but Admiral Farragut failed to make the post-season.

Watch out for some new blood and some old school. Keeping an eye on University Christian in the north and Glades Day in the south.

A couple of dark horse candidates - with Lake Mary Prep (10-0), First Baptist Academy - Naples (10-0) - along with Dade Christian (9-0).

This class has produced two of the most dominant programs in Florida high school football - with North Florida Christian and Glades Day battling. Both schools have seven titles each and are looking for a eighth. Of course, University Christian has six - so the Fighting Christians would like to even the score.

Eagles View at North Florida Christian

The Skinny: NFC is the defending champion and shows no weakness in class 2A competition. Two of the three losses for the Eagles have come against playoff teams - but injuries continue to mount. Speaking of injuries, the Warriors of Eagle's View lost Rivals 4-star 2014 QB DJ Gillins for the season - which changes the offense completely. Win by attrition in this game.

NORTH FLORIDA CHRISTIAN
Prediction: NORTH FLORIDA CHRISTIAN

FAMU High at University Christian The Skinny: University Christian has been dominant all season with its running game. The FAMU Baby Rattlers at 2-7 and an offense that has struggled to score in the last four games (18 points). That's not a good combination as UC has given up a touchdown or less in five of last 7 games - and only a loss to 3A power Trinity Christian (Jax) blemishes the schedule.

FAMU HIGH
UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN
Prediction: UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN

Foundation Acdy at Warner Christian

The Skinny: Foundation has a very talented football team that is still learning to play together. Warner Christian has a track record in the post-season and will be hosting this game. The Eagles have only been 'tested' by Cocoa - a 28-0 loss. Every other game has been decided by 12 points or more - and all are wins. Foundation had to fight its way into the post-season with a three-way shootout.

FOUNDATION
WARNER CHRISTIAN
Prediction: WARNER CHRISTIAN

Trinity Christian (Deltona) at Lake Mary Prep The Skinny: Lake Mary Prep is one of 24 unbeaten teams going into the post-season and has done all that was required to stay that way. Trinity Christian picked up Marquion Lane from Deland and has built an offense around the Rivals three-star RB. Both teams like to run the ball - so this game may be over rather quickly - time-wise.
vs
TRINITY-DELTONA
LAKE MARY PREP
Prediction: LAKE MARY PREP

Moore Haven at Carrollwood The Skinny: Carrollwood is making its first-ever appearance in the FHSAA state playoffs. Moore Haven is making its first since 2004. The Terriers want to snap a streak dating back to 1997 - the last time Moore Haven won a playoff game. Carrollwood has Cincinnati-bound RB Robert Davis and that should be enough.
vs
MOORE HAVEN
CARROLLWOOD DAY
Prediction: CARROLLWOOD DAY

Indian Rocks Christian at First Baptist Academy The Skinny:First Baptist is one of 24 teams in the state that comes into the post-season at 10-0. Can the Lions stay that way. FBA started the season hot and the defense was stifling, but Out-of-Door took them to the wire before falling 46-42. Indian Rocks Christian is making a return to the post-season after a four-year absence and would like to get past the first round for the first time since 1999. The Golden Eagles ran off six straight wins before closing the season with three straight losses, but a 25-21 win over Admiral Farragut kept the Blue Jackets at home.

INDIAN ROCKS CHRISTIAN
FIRST BAPTIST
Prediction: FIRST BAPTIST

Champagnat Catholic at Glades Day

The Skinny: Champagnat Catholic gets in by way of a win over South Florida Heat 40-0. That's the only game the Lions won until last week's 22-21 win over Doral Academy. But don't fault coach Mike Tunsil for being here. His squad worked hard and deserves a berth. Unfortunately for him - it's against the state's all-time leading rusher - Florida-bound Kelvin Taylor and the Glades Day Gators. Taylor is in a race with Yulee's Derrick Henry to finish as the all-time leader - and Taylor will get another game after this week.

vs
CHAMPAGNAT
GLADES DAY
Prediction: GLADES DAY

Village Academy at Dade Christian The Skinny: : The good news for Village Academy is - they won't see the type of team they faced last week against Pasco. But give credit where credit is due - the Tigers have faced some very stiff competition, including the Pirates, Pahokee, Chaminade and Treasure Coast - to name a few. Dade Christian comes in unbeaten and ready to snatch a chance at the elusive state championship. The Crusader defense has given up 20 points total in the last four games - not good news for Village Academy
vs
VILLAGE ACADEMY
DADE CHRISTIAN
Prediction: DADE CHRISTIAN
