YULEE-- Derrick Henry did it the way he has for four years.
Henry took a handoff at the Yulee 48 and raced 52 yards for a touchdown and broke the record set by Ken Hall from Sugarland, TX - at 11,232.
Henry not only broke the record - he shattered it. Henry had 262 yards at the half -and three touchdowns.
Yulee led 21-13 at the half, and went on to win 41-26.
Henry - who is headed to Alabama - was virtually unstoppable - with 32 of the Hornets' 39 plays in the half. Ken Hall - who set the record in 1953 - was humbled.
"It's been fun to hold the record for so long," said Hall. "I said when the record was set that it was there to be broken.
"I look forward to meeting him in San Antonio and shaking his hand. He and a special group of kids did something incredible. It will be around for a long, long time. "
Henry spoke after the game of the significance of the record.
"All this is ya'll," Henry told his teammates after the game. "God put me in the right place and provided me with the talent and a great offensive line.
"Guess what," Henry added - then shouted "We ain't done yet ya'll"
His team circled around him and began to celebrate the 41-26 win.
