University School (11-0) vs. Madison County (12-1)

The Skinny: It's time to play for some jewelry this Saturday afternoon when the Madison County returns to Orlando to face undefeated and nationally-ranked University School. MadCo. defeated Providence (54-7), Pensacola Catholic (17-14) and Orlando First Academy (27-3) all at Boot Hill; the Suns dispatched Cardinal Newman (27-0), got past their nemesis in American Heritage-Delray (30-14), then boat-raced a very good Clearwater Central Catholic team 42-0 on the road last week.

vs
UNIVERSITY SCHOOL
MADISON COUNTY
Prediction: UNIVERSITY SCHOOL

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
MADISON COUNTY -
DL Ira Denson, QB DJ McKnight, RB Deonshay Wells , RB Keon Burton, OLB Brice Hamilton, DE Brandon Crawford

UNIVERSITY SCHOOL - QB Mike White, RB Jordan Scarlett, ATH Jalen Battle, WR Jordan Cunningham, LB Nick Internicola, LB Skai Moore

THE OUTLOOK:
Hard not to think about the coincidences regarding this time last season if you're a Madison County fan; here come the Cowboys with another impressive season under their belt, as well as a the ability to impose their style of play on teams and force them into submission.

What isn't such a good thing about this coincidence is that they're facing another Broward County team that is very much similar, if not even better than the one they faced last season.

University School are a team averaging almost 350 total yards of offense, 42 points per game and are almost the definition of balanced at that; they average 160yds per game on the arm of Sr. QB Mike White (154-of-225 for 1,919 yards, 20TD's and 2 INT's) and 185yds mostly on the strength of Sophomore RB Jordan Scarlett's 1,282 and 21TD's. There's BCS talent at virtually every position and they will look to exploit their explosiveness on offense, put points on the board early and often in order to force Madison County out of their comfort zone on offense and out of their vaunted rushing attack.

The slightest of nods goes to Madison County in terms of proof there's resolve and the ability to win the close ones (i.e, Pensacola Catholic twice), even though they lost their marquee match-up versus Gainesville.

U-School has curb-stomped every team they've faced (quality and non-quality) so in theory it's tough to know what's under the hood when "stuff" hits the fan so-to-speak.

Might not make that much of a difference though if they jump out early however and a "close" game for them would be somewhere within 4 TD's on the norm. It's awfully tough to play catch up when you're MadCo.

ANALYSIS No reason to believe that's going to happen this Saturday, but this isn't a typical 3A "small-school" squad. Then again, there's nothing small about Madison County except the size of the town it's located in. Madison is entering this year's game healthy - unlike last year. However, last year the Cowboys couldn't find a way to stop Greg Bryant and this year's opponent - University School - has multiple weapons. Look for a game that's closer for a lot longer than last year's 3A title game, even though a late score will indicate something different.

PREDICTION: University School 31, Madison County 13
