Cocoa running back Antwan Lee is like a needle in a haystack when it comes to recruiting in the hotbed state of Florida.

There are so many good athletes that other good athletes often get overshadowed.

In fact, the 5-foot-10 senior isn't even considered the best running back on his team.

That honor goes to Tarean Folston, who head coach John Wilkinson said is the best running back he has ever coached. Folston, who rushed for 1,722 yards, holds offers from over 30 Division I schools, including Florida and Notre Dame, while Alabama has offered him as a defensive back.

However, Wilkinson is quick to note that Folston's backfield mate can play at that next level too.

"He (Lee) is a Division-I back because he is a complete back with great hands, a good blocker, excellent vision, football sense and tremendous balance," noted Wilkinson, who guided the Tigers (10-3) to the Class 3A state semifinals this past year.

Although he wasn't the feature back, Lee rushed for 1,487 yards and 13 touchdowns.

"Antwan is a back with great balance and vision," said Wilkinson. "He is seldom taken down on first contact."

Plus, with an average of eight yards per carry, he actually managed more per rush than Folston.

"I think that if he was the feature back in any offense he would have well over the yards he had this year, he added. "He was forced the share the spotlight with Folston and to some extent Lorrenzo Pratt (750 yards) in our offense."

Lee, who has started since the state semifinals of his sophomore year, had over 1,000 yards as a junior and returned a kickoff 69 yards for a score in the second half of Cocoa's 14-13 win against Glades Central in the 2010 4A state title game. He runs a 4.62 in the 40, benches 255 and cleans 225.

He currently has offers from Weber State and Southern Illinois.
