Niceville junior wide receiver Tyre McCants is a kid that has played and loved football since the day he could walk.

"My Mom said I would watch football games when I was two, was playing with a football when I was four, and I've always been fascinated with the game," said McCants, who noted that he played just about every position on offense and defense, except the line, when he was growing up. "I think it helps now since I can recognize coverages and break off my route a little quicker."

The 5-foot-11 McCants, who runs a 4.5 in the 40, has a bench press of 285 pounds and a 475 squat, is an asset because he is a life-long student of the game.

"But what separates Tyre from many in this generation is that he truly cares for his teammates and their success and will sacrifice personal achievements for his team and his teammates," said running back coach Adron Robinson, who handles the college recruiting for the players.

Last year, McCants led the Eagles with 43 catches for 707 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had five kickoff returns for 253 yards and a TD and eight carries for 59 yards and a score.

He will be attending the Rivals combine later this month and a Nike combine in April to test his agility.

"My strengths are my power and explosion and my ability to go up and get a ball, but I need to work on my hips because I am not very flexible," he said.

McCants, who also plans on attending more camps this summer, said he will play quarterback some this year which he said will help him recognize more coverages.

"There is no question whether or not he will be a good D-I player, the question is who, added Robinson. "He will be one of the strongest WR's in college football on day one to go along with his great speed."

McCants has already received offers from Louisville, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, Louisiana Lafayette and Florida Atlantic. He feels like Southern Miss, USF and Florida State are all close to making an offer.

The lifelong Seminole fan attended FSU's junior day and is hopeful for an offer.

"Coach Fisher told me just to be patient and I would likely get an offer," he said. "I would prefer to stay in Florida, but I am OK with going out of state as long as I feel comfortable with that school."
