Countryside Cougars look to rebound
We continue our 30 stops in 30 days with Countryside.
After a frustrating 2012 campaign, the Cougars will look to bounce back to the normal dominance in Pinellas County. With open holes at running back and wide receiver, C-Side will look to rebound with upcoming talent.
The most notable name on the Countryside roster is 3-star cornerback Mike Johnson. Mike is a physical cover cornerback who played aggressive during the team's scrimmage. He has received offers from Florida State, USF, Rutgers, among others.
Zach Laurinaitis will be a pass catching target to watch for this season. His 6-foot-6, 205-pound frame will draw attention from college coaches. Laurinaitis plays tight and wide receiver. He has solid route running ability and can catch the ball cleanly in traffic.
Zach is the cousin of NFL linebacker James Laurinaitis of the St. Louis Rams. Zach's father is John Laurinaitis, who is famously employed by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
Throwing the ball to Zach Laurinaitis will be quarterback Robby Hicks.
Protecting Hicks' blindside will be 2-star offensive tackle Giovanni Negron.
Standing at 6-foot-4 280-pounds, Negron is not a player you would want to line up across from. He played very angry in board drills and during the scrimmage. He threw his opposition to the ground with ease. Negron pours syrup on his pancakes.
Countryside has a solid pass-catching target in Laurinaitis, but the rest of the receiving core will need to improve by the fall.
With the team's top running backs graduating, Countryside will be forced to air the ball out more this season. A lot of pressure will be on the young shoulders of the 2014-prospect Hicks.
The offensive line, aside from Negron, did not look very strong - so it will be up to Robby's play-making ability to carry the passing attack in 2013.
