GAME 4 - SMASH MOUTH FOOTBALL

The Skinny: This games features a pair of 1-1 teams that are riding opposite momentum waves. The Hurricanes are coming off a 31-0 win at Eastside. After a season opening road win, the Cowboys saw a 36-6 loss in their home opener against Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, MD). These teams have split their last two games, but the 'Canes won last year's battle at Boot Hill 14-9. Both teams made it to Orlando last year as north champions, but both fell in the title game (Madison - 3A, Gainesville 6A)

vs
MADISON
GAINESVILLE
Prediction: GAINESVILLE
PLAYERS TO WATCH:

MADISON: LB Brice Hamilton, RB Deontay Oliver, ATH Eric Bright

GAINESVILLE: DB Juan Jenkins; WR Kenric Young; RB Tony James

THE OUTLOOK:

Having a top five running back on your team is always a good thing. That is exactly what the Hurricanes have in senior RB Tony James. James and WR Kenric Young were shut down week one by Columbia (2-0) but bounced back last week in a win over Eastside.

Madison, meanwhile, struggled with Eastern Christian (Md.) - falling 36-6 at home. It's been a while - a long while - since the Cowboys were beaten at home like that. It's about the same amount of time since Madison has lost back-to-back weeks.

For Gainesville to win, it must contain Madison's running attack, led by QB Akevious Williams and Eric Bright. The Cowboys run the veer and run it very well.

Madison has to keep James bottled up and not let him get loose. If James gets in a rhythm, it could be a very long night for the Cowboys.
