There is no offseason in football, especially in the Sunshine State. The 7-on-7 season is in full swing, where often young stars begin to emerge and get noticed.

2016 WR Rick Wells of Raines (Jacksonville, Fla.) is an example of young player beginning to make a name for himself. The 6-foot-2, 186 pound athlete has been a standout for Pro Impact, a 7-on-7 team based in Jacksonville.

The young wide out claims a verbal offer from Purdue, and told FlaVarsity that he's also hearing from Cincinnati, Georgia, Miami, and Louisville.

"I have an offer from Purdue. I really like the coaches, we've spoken a few times."

Wells has gained the attention from a SEC East contender.

"I haven't spoken to Georgia recently, but they definitely want me to attend Dawg Nite this summer," he said. "Wide receivers coach Tony Ball told me he likes my size and he would like for me to visit unofficially in the spring."

The Bearcats and the Hurricanes have expressed interest in the Raines receiver.

"I got a letter last week from Cincinnati asking me to come to their camp, that they really want to see me there," Wells shared. "Miami is interested. We visited as a team before the 7-on-7 tournament in Ft. Lauderdale. UM has a nice campus. I got to chat with linebackers coach Micheal Barrow, he's a good coach."

The Louisville Cardinals have begun the recruiting process with Wells.

"I spoke to wide receivers coach Lamar Thomas briefly, he said he was going to drop by Raines in the spring and take a closer look at me."

Wells spoke about a few factors that will determine his college choice.

"I'll look at the depth charts and the type of campus lifestyle a school offers, but the quality of the degree will be the most important part of my decision," Wells mentioned. "I'd also would prefer to leave Florida, just to see something different. I don't mind playing in the cold weather."
