Niceville QB is getting looks
The Niceville Eagles had a great showing the state 7A playoffs last fall. They made it to the state finals and lost to Dwyer 55-39.
A large part of Niceville's success was due to their senior offensive leaders - Ashton Hooker and Tyre McCants. 2016 athlete Elijah Stove and 2015 running back Ski'Kim Coward will replace McCants as the playmaking offensive weapons for the Eagles, but they are still looking for their next quarterback.
Tuthill is new to the Niceville program, and is getting acclimated to the program.
"It is my first year at Niceville and I am still competing with Drew Frederic for the starting role," Tuthill told FlaVarsity.com. "It is obvious why Niceville is always so successful. Everyone here has welcomed me, and has helped out. Even the other kids I am competing against are helping me learn the plays and the whole team is one big family that helps each other in many ways."
After Niceville beat schools like Lincoln, Osceola (Kissimmee), and Bolles to reach the state finals, the Eagles have high expectations once again in 2014.
"Everyone has high expectations. Our school, friends, family, and even business in the city mention us on their signs by the road, wishing us luck. It is awesome to have such a supportive community to help us hopefully achieve our goals of not only returning, but of course we want to win it this year."
Tuthill doesn't hold any scholarship offers yet, but hopes if he wins the starting quarterback position and has a big year - he can land some late offers. He has visited USF for their junior day, and was invited to a Southern Mississippi junior day, but was not able to attend.
"I really liked the feel of the campus in Tampa. I currently live very close to the beach, and their campus feels like it is close to home, even though it is pretty far away. The coaches all seemed cool and I feel like I would get along with them and their personalities."
Clemson, FAU, Southern Miss, and USF have all checked out Niceville recently to inquire about Tuthill and other Niceville prospects.
