Congratulations to 18 Florida high school wrestlers as they were named in the "2001 InterMat's High School Individual Preseason Rankings", which was updated on Oct. 1.

Sam Hazewinkel, J.T. Taylor, Jon Wimberley, Davin Joseph, Cesar Grajales, Jason Robbins, Allan Herrera, Javier Maldonado, Matt Booker, and Matt Juncal were ranked in the Top 25.

Receiving Special Mention were Greg Soufleris, Dominic DeNunzio, Guy Gibson, Jason Ruberg, Matthew Hammons, Jeremy Mosley, Carlos West, and Danny Perez.

Sam Hazewinkel is ranked # 2 at 119 pounds. Sam is a 2 time Florida State Champion in Class A and was the USA Wrestling Junior National Champion and an NHSCA National Open Champion this year. Sam wrestles for Pensacola Christian Academy where David Hazewinkel is the head wrestling coach.

J.T. Taylor is ranked # 9 at 130 pounds. J.T. is a 2 time Florida State Champion in Class A and he wrestles for Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale where Frank Pettineo is the head wrestling coach.

Jon Wimberley is ranked # 9 at 152 pounds. Jon finished 2nd in Class 2A in 2000 and 2nd in the NHSCA National Open this year. Jon wrestles for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale where Frank Patascil is the head wrestling coach.

Davin Joseph is ranked # 10 at 275 pounds. Davin is a Florida State Champion in Class 2A and was an NHSCA National Open Champion this year. Davin wrestles for Hallandale where Allen Held is the head wrestling coach.

Cesar Grajales is ranked # 11 at 103 pounds. Cesar advanced to the Florida Finals in Class A and was a USA Wrestling Cadet National Champion this year. Cesar now wrestles for Brandon where Russ Cozart is the head wrestling coach.

Jason Robbins is ranked # 13 at 103 pounds. Jason is a 5th placer in Class A and was a USA Wrestling Cadet National and a FILA Cadet All American this year. Jason now wrestles for Oviedo where Tom Coffman is the head wrestling coach.

Allan Herrera is ranked #15 at 160 pounds. Allan is a Class 3A Florida State Champion and was a runnerup in the NHSCA National Open this year. Allan wrestles for Goleman High in Miami where Donald Festge is the head wrestling coach.

Javier Maldonado is ranked #16 at 112 pounds. Javier is a Class 2A Florida State Champion and a USA Wrestling Junior National All American. Javier wrestles for Osceola High in Kissimmee where Doug Nichols is the head wrestling coach.

Matt Booker is ranked #20 at 140 pounds. Matt is a Class A Florida State Champion and he wrestles for Springstead High in Spring Hill where Bob Levija is the head wrestling coach.

Matt Juncal is ranked # 22 at 160 pounds. Matt is a Florida State Champion in Class 2A and wrestles for Brandon where Russ Cozart is the head wrestling coach.

Greg Soufleris is a Special Mention at 112 pounds. Greg is a Florida State Runnerup and 5th placer in Class A and he wrestles for Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale where Frank Pettineo is the head wrestling coach.

Dominic DeNunzio is a Special Mention at 119 pounds. Dominic is a Florida State Runnerup in Class 2A and he wrestles for Countryside High in Clearwater where David Frayer is the head wrestling coach.

Guy Gibson is a Special Mention at 119 pounds. Guy is a 2 time Florida State Champion in Class 2A and he wrestles for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale where Frank Patascil is the head wrestling coach.

Jason Ruberg is a Special Mention at 160 pounds. Jason is a Class A Florida State Champion and he wrestles for Lemon Bay High in Englewood where Marc Pearcy is the head wrestling coach.
