2019 Cardinal Gibbons OG Jamari Williams is a prospect to watch next season

Jamari Williams is a hardworking sophomore offensive lineman from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He spoke with FlaVarsity.com on an array of things starting with his expectations for next season. Last year, the Chiefs fell in the second round of the Florida 5A playoffs to state champion American Heritage by a field goal, 10-3. Cardinal Gibbons finished the year 10-2 with both blemishes coming at the hands of the Patriots.

When asked if he thought his Chiefs will avenge their losses to the American Heritage this coming season Williams snapped back, "You're damn right!"

"I expect us to win a state ring this year we have a lot of new weapons and we are hungry and smarter than last year we are tired of being over looked," added the 6-foot-3, 270-pound sophomore.

When asked to name a few new weapons Williams fired a list of names off his head.

"We have Vincent Davis, he was injured last year, he's our running back. Also, 2019 offensive lineman Cameron stage, 2018 corner back Marquis Williams (Coconut Creek transfer), 2018 wide receiver Brandon, and 2018 line backer Angel Lozano," boasted Williams.

Cardinal Gibbons has definitely reloaded for the upcoming season, the coaching staff remains in place and they have added Chris Courcy to coach the offensive line. If Williams and the rest of his trench brethren can elevate their game from last season, a state title is very much in their grasp.

On a personal level, Williams currently holds an offer from Bowling Green University of the Mid Atlantic Conference (MAC) and is receiving interest from a few other schools

"The Bowling Green coaching staff came down to visit Jamari Rouse who committed to them. They head coach and defensive coordinator stopped by my school, we talked for a minute and they offered me," said Williams. "I was very excited it was a dream come I'm so grateful for the offer and the opportunity. It will always be one of my top schools."

While Williams said the right things about Bowling Green, he did talk to FlaVarsity about another school and an offer he covets.

"My dream school is Miami. I would love to get an offer from the U," exclaimed Williams.

Recently the sophomore visited Miami for Junior Day and gave the Hurricane's high marks.

"We toured the campus, it was beautiful. I got to meet the coaching staff and socialize with other recruits. We watched some clips of practice together, then we went over the importance of education and what it means to be a 'Cane," explained Williams.

He informed FlaVarsity that the staff liked him and told him to work on putting on a few pounds of muscle and to come out for their Summer camp.

"I expect my recruiting process to speed up during the spring. Right now I am working with my team and coach Donnell Bennett (former Miami Hurricane and Kansas City Chief), my father, and my personal trainer Coach Wale at Athlete University to get stronger and more explosive," claimed Williams.

Williams will be on the camp circuit this offseason so Rivals will get a chance to evaluate him further. He participated in the Nike regionals last weekend and plans to attend the Under Armour camp in Miami on March 4th.
