City Of Palms Day 1: Wildwood Takes Down SW Florida Christian

FORT MYERS, DEC. 18, 2017 – Senior guard Darion Wilson scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Wildwood to a 79-68 victory over SW Florida Christian Academy Monday night at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

The game was practically a home game for SWFC since their campus is seven miles away from the arena.

After only hitting three field goals in the first quarter, Wildwood shot 53.8 percent from the floor the rest of the way and put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter when they outscored SWFC by 12 points. Bryan McMullen (14) and Shemar Rose (13) also scored in double figures for the Wildcats.

Senior forward Caleb Catto (FGCU) had a game high 30 points for the Kings. He also added six rebounds, five assists. Cade Daugherty added 15 points and Luke McCann had 11.

In the penultimate game of Monday night, Mountain Brook (Ala.) raced out to a 17-4 lead over Fort Myers Canterbury and never looked back on their way to a 75-26 win. Mountain Brook’s full court pressure and up-tempo offense was too much for the Cougars who made just six first half field goals.

Mountain Brook made 58.8 percent of its three-point attempts and dominated Canterbury on the glass by a 31-16 margin

Three Spartans finished in double figures led by Lior Berman’s 16 points, Britton Johnson had 12 and the Trendon Watford, the No. 17 ranked prospect in the 2019 class, had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. He also dished four assists in just 15 minutes of playing time.

Simon Wilbur led the Cougars with 11 points while Berrick JeanLouis (South Alabama) filled up the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals. JeanLouis also had seven turnovers but on several of those he was left out to dry.
