WESTON,FL--After taking a few days to mull it over, Mark Guandolo has decided to remain the head football coach at Cypress Bay High School.
Guandolo interviewed for the vacant Edgewater High vacancy at the end of last week.
There were multiple reports surfacing on the internet that he had accepted the position at the Orlando area school, but when asked about the reports he quickly denied them.
"My roots are here in South Florida," Guandolo told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "We've built a pretty good tradition at Cypress Bay and I want to keep that going."
"We've got great coaches, great kids, and a lot of support."
Cypress Bay is coming off a season where they finished 12-3 and were the 8A state runner up, losing to Apopka in the state final 53-50. This was the Lightning's best finish in school history.
Guandolo led Cypress Bay to a state-semifinal and state title appearance in two of the past three seasons.
