The quarterback class of 2012 may not have an absolute star at the moment, but there are some very talented gunslingers in this group. There are plenty of quarterbacks in the state of Florida that we believe will have major senior seasons.

Bennie Coney, the 6-foot-1, 195 pound quarterback from Plant City high school, has one of the top arms in the state. He can make all the throws and has the athleticism to move out of the pocket with ease. Tyler Cameron, the 6-foot-3, 210 pound quarterback from Jupiter high school, is very similar to Tim Tebow at this stage in their careers, except he may be a more accurate passer. He has a live arm and has a ton of athleticism, but he is not on Tebow's level in those categories yet. Nick Patti, the 5-foot-11, 190 pound quarterback from Dr. Phillips high school is probably the most polished quarterback in the state. He has a smooth delivery and is very accurate, but his height hurts him when looking at his potential. I truly believe that if he was atleast 6-foot-2, he would have offers from everyone.
One passer to watch, that is currently 6th on our quarterback rankings, is Bartram Trail's Nathan Peterman. One college quarterback coach once told me that "Peterman has all the tools to be a major college quarterback. With proper work in the weight room and some slight tweaks to his mechanics, he will be an all-league player in college."
This quarterback class may not look flashy at this time, but give them their final year and watch what these guys can do. There is a lot of potential here and you will be pleasantly surprised by their production this year. Here are the quarterbacks that made the FlaVarsity Top 160.
Buzz: Coney has the potential to be the top quarterback in the state. He can make all the throws and has poise in the pocket. If he stays focused, he will impress.
Schools in the mix: Arkansas, Cincinnati, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech
Buzz: If Patti were 6'2, he'd be ranked among the top QB's in the country. He is very smart, can make all the throws, and is a gamer. Boise State is lucky to have him.
Buzz: Marshall throws with touch, accuracy, and has poise in the pocket. He is a dual threat quarterback that has long strides and is a threat to score on every snap.
Schools in the mix: Baylor, Boston College, Duke, FIU, Kansas, Memphis, Purdue, Rutgers, Tulane, Virginia, Wake Forest
Buzz: Crow has a very strong arm and has terrific size. He needs to improve his footwork, but that will come with time. He has a ton of potential to be elite at the next level. Crow is physically ready for the college game right now.
Buzz: Peterman has good size and is very accurate with the football. He is a smart quarterback that you can count on to make the right decision at all times.
Schools in the mix: Cincinnati, Florida State, Louisville, Miami (OH), North Carolina State, UConn, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest
Buzz: Norvell has a strong arm and good size. He really fires the ball with good zip, but will need to improve his footwork, in turn, improving his accuracy.
Buzz: Eveld hasn't starting a high school game yet, but he will jump onto the radar soon. He is accurate, has a good arm, and will make all the right decisions.
Schools in the mix: Delaware, FIU, Florida State, Iowa State, Middle Tennessee State, UCF, USF
Buzz: Hilliard throws the ball with a lot of velocity and makes sound decisions. He is a mature quarterback that makes smart decisions and gets the ball out quickly.
