Continuing our countdown of the top 50 players in the state of Florida for the class of 2014, here's Number 21.
One of the keys to the Gainesville Hurricanes' run to the 6A state title game was transfer Tony James.
James came to GHS from nearby Buchholz and made an instant impact, along with offensive weapons like Raphael Webb and Chris Thompson.
Webb and Thompson are gone, and the running game belongs to James now - who checks in at No. 21 in our Class of 2014 FlaVarsity100 countdown.
James, a 5-foot-9, 175 pound Rivals four-star, is ranked third in the country as an all-purpose back.
He possesses breakaway speed and the ability to cut against the grain on a dime.
James will be the featured back for the Purple Hurricanes as they try to make it back to Orlando.
"Tremendous frame, a little bit light right now, but broad shoulders," said Rivals analyst Woody Wommack. "He cuts on a dime and can catch the ball out of the backfield."
James has offers from Florida, Florida State, and Miami - but none of the Florida 'three' are on his short list.
