Fleming Island TE Sam Snyder is "stock up" as the early signing day nears.

Since backing off his pledge to Louisville on December 2nd, Sam Snyder has been "stock up" as we say here in the Rivals network.

Here's what's gone down since the calendar flipped to December.

Snyder took an official visit to Baylor, who offered Sam two weeks prior, from November 30th through December the 2nd. When he got home on the night of 2nd he decommitted from Louisville. The next day, Florida State offered during an in-home visit. Missouri and Michigan have also sent assistant coaches to the Snyder residence since he opened things up and UCLA has also been in contact and there is a potential official visit in the works but more on that later.

The Baylor visit was excellent and the Bears are one Snyder's top schools. If he decides to sign on December 19th they have a shot at landing his signature. If the newfound interest other schools have expressed makes Snyder wait until February to sign, they are going to face a rougher road, but they have the relationships built to contend with anyone.

Michigan was one of the schools expressing said interest and tight end coach Sherrone Moore visited Snyder the same night FSU swung by and offered. While no offer came, Moore did extended an official visit invitation for the weekend of the 15th.

The Snyders however, have opted to visit elsewhere this weekend.

In lieu of a December visit to Ann Arbor, Snyder will take an official to Missouri. The Tigers haven't offered Snyder yet but that seems imminent consider they're footing the bill for his trip. The Snyders are from the St. Louis area and much of their family remains there. Obviously, this makes the Tigers an attractive candidate to the Snyders and Sam has been interested in Mizzou for a while. If all goes well on his official visit, Snyder could very well shut it down and sign with the Tigers the proceeding Wednesday.

If he decides to push his commitment back, FSU and UCLA will be very much in the game.

FSU is a two hour, forty five minute drive on 75 West, two and a half if you push it. I was told Sam grew up a fan of the Florida Gators but childhood allegiances tend to fade when your dream school doesn't extend an offer. It won't be known how much of a chance the 'Noles have until December 19th.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly has also been in contact with Snyder and the Bruins' tight end coach Derek Sage is scheduled for an in-home visit tonight. Again, if he doesn't sing in December watch to see if Snyder takes a visit to UCLA and who accompanies him.

Also of note regarding the Snyder stock report, he's ascended from the 78th ranked TE in the rivals rankings to 26th in the nation. He's also moved up to a 5.7 three star from a 5.5 tri-star.

If you're asking yourself what is this 5.5 to a 5.5 nonsense, the national analysts explain it here.

Dave's deliberation:

I think Missouri and Baylor have a leg up on FSU and the 'Noles have a leg up on UCLA. The Bruins could make some headway tonight but as it always is, distance is going to be a factor and there is a lot of distance between Orange Park, Florida and Los Angeles, California. It appears Snyder has a good relationship with Baylor but the family ties to Missouri and the official visit right before early signing day make it appear that the Tigers are the team to beat. That's me quoting me, not me quoting anyone from Snyder's side of things or Missouri's.

We will know more in about a week so check back with FlaVarsity for an update.
