FlaVarsity analysts have reviewed the players, the film and the accolades and compiled our own Post-season countdown of the top 50 players in the state of Florida for the class of 2014.
Our list may vary a bit from the Rivals list - and we can appreciate that - even though we're all on the same team. Our analysts have NFL and Major College experience and see things a little differently from time to time.
Gillins proved he can play against tough competition when he transferred from 2A Eaglesview Academy to 5A Jacksonville Ribault and immediately led the Trojans into a playoff hunt in a very tough district.
The Trojans were runner-ups to Jacksonville Bishop Kenny and fell to 5A runner-up Clay in the first round, but Gillins was the heartbeat of the team. He threw for over 4800 yards his first two seasons and was injured in his junior year, but came back in 2013 to throw for over 2000 yards for the Trojans. He's added a little weight, but not lost in speed - clocked at 4.51 in the 40.
