To say the talent level for high school football in Florida is overflowing would be an understatement.

No less than thirty-nine players from the Sunshine State are listed in the Rivals250 - but there are a few four-star athletes that didn't make the cut.

Or fell from the rankings.

Delray Beach Atlantic's DT Keith Bryant is one of them.

As is De'asian Richardson of Orange Park, and CB Rashard Robinson of Pompano Beach Ely.

All four-stars - none rated in the Rivals250.

"Before you ever do the 100 or the 250, you do the position rankings," said Chris Nee. "The thing that people have to realize is that each ranking is a 'photograph' of that momemnt."

"You're doing a total of 16 positions before you even start with the 100 or the 250," Nee said. "You literally rank as many as 100 players by position, then start breaking it down from there."

With Florida gathering over 400 Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I) scholarships last year, the chance to leave out a few players is expanded.

Players like Richardson, Bryant, Madison County's Ira Denson, Dade City-Pasco's Joey Ivie and Bartow's Freddie Stevenson

"There's just a lot of talent in Florida," Nee said. "And sometimes the skill players outweigh the offensive and defensive linemen and linebackers."

"It's tough. You sit down to do the 250 and you realize there's a heck of a lot of good players that exceed that 250 limit," Nee added. "We like to do an 'eyes-on' evaluation of players before we put them in the 250."

"So there are always going to be a few early on that we haven't personally seen," Nee said. "But as the camp season and the football season gets started - that changes."

FlaVarsity will release its 150 in June.

As for the Rivals 250 - Nee says to take it as it comes out. It's by far not the final ranking.

"It's not a finished product at this point," Nee said. "We'll be monitoring players and film throughout the season and the all-star games."
