Hillsborough running back Duran Bell is having an explosive senior season

Hillsborough running back Duran Bell has been everything and more for the Terriers offense so far this season.

At 5-0, Bell has helped the rushing attack with 519 yards and a team-best eight touchdowns on 45 carries. He’s already surpassed his touchdown totals from the last two seasons combined (7).

The USF commit has scored in all but one game and is fresh off a 188-yard, two touchdown performance in a 38-0 win over Class 6A-District 7 rival Chamberlain. Those numbers came on just 11 touches.

At 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, Bell Jr. is not afraid to mix it up as an inside runner, but he flourishes with his pure speed when he gets to the outside whether he is running or catching passes.

Coming off a 4-6 showing in 2015, Bell Jr. has high hopes for his group.

“We want to make it to playoffs,” he said. “Last year, we had a not so good season. This year, our goal is to make it to the playoffs and a go a little bit further.”

Bell Jr. has been a weapon for the Terriers this season alongside a pair of solid backs in seniors Drequan McCullough and Russell Booth. If Bell Jr. can continue to bounce upfield for large chunks of yards, not only will Hillsborough be happy, but you can bet head coach Earl Garcia will be happy.

This kid is a lightning bolt for the Terriers and he is just getting started midway through the 2016 season.
