With Christmas quickly
approaching, the trees, the lights and ornaments start going up. But there is
another thing that is coming as well. Basketball tournaments. That has become
the signature of the holiday season, the pre-Christmas and post-Christmas
tournaments.
          Â
Two of the better tournaments that are being hosted in the South Florida

Rock Holiday Classic being hosted at North Broward Prep at 7600 Lyons
Road in Coconut Creek from December 19-23, 2003.
          Â
The Zoned Out Shootout has a field of eight that includes
some of the best teams in Florida, including state contenders Pahokee and Key
West and out-of-state team Kennett from the Philadelphia area. Kennett won the
Class 3A state championship in Pennsylvania just two years ago. The rest of the
field includes some of the better teams out of Miami-Dade, including American,
which is the defending county champion, and advanced to the Elite Eight last
season before being knocked out by eventual state champion, Dillard, North Miami
Beach, Southridge, South Dade and Calusa Prep.
