It's all work, no play, for '18 Tampa ATH Andrew Cunningham this offseason

Andrew Cunningham is a 2018 prospect with approximately 30 offers. He has been working tirelessly this offseason to gain muscle and explosiveness. He currently trains with former South Carolina QB Stephen Garcia at Athlete Retreat in Odessa, Florida.

"I'm not going to any camps this year, I'm done with that, I'll just be hitting up college camps. I'm really comfortable where I'm at in recruiting right now so I'm just working out, getting strong, and pushing my body. I do weight training at my school with my team and I also go to a place called Athlete Retreat. I have two personal trainers who train me on specific things to improve my speed and explosiveness. It's a four week program and I try to get it in six-days a week," said Cunningham.

The Tampa Athlete says he has no preference where he plays as far as offense or defense but he knows one day he will have to make a decision soon.

"Defensively, Iowa State likes me at linebacker as well as Kentucky and Boston College," remarked Cunningham.

He also said he doesn't mind leaving Florida to go to college, stating that he is originally from New Jersey and moved to the Sunshine State when he was five.

"I want to go out of state but if I have to stay in Florida for whatever reason I'll do what I have to do," commented the 6-foot, 210-pound athlete.

Cunningham did mention that he feels he is a good fit for a Big Ten type of school like Indiana, Purdue, or Wisconsin, while adding he thinks a place like Louisville where bigger backs are utilized would also be a good fit.

Measurables Analysis

Speed

Cunningham ran a 4.48 laser time in the 40-yard dash at FSU last Spring. Not exactly sprinter speed but for a back of his size and power he can move. Looks slower than a 4.48 on tape but he never gets caught. Seems that his acceleration gets him by people and his long strides keep him ahead of pursuit.

Weight

His 210-pound frame is all muscle mass. He is a mesomorph with a compact muscular frame. He has a 32 inch waist and wears a size 14 shoe.

Strength

Bench: 325-pounds(can do 15 reps of 225)

Squat: 445-pounds

Dead Lift: 440-pounds

Running Style

One cut runner with good vision, shows impressive acceleration and deceleration capabilities, exhibits great balance to compliment his violent running style, runs his feet on contact.

As a defender

Shows good burst and motor. Looks faster on defense than he does as a running back. Tackles the ball and shows great strength when he "starts the lawn mower" by ripping the ball free from occupied ball carriers. Materializes in the backfield with no thinking on missed assignments and blitzes.
