Jesuit star lists five offers, sets visits

Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit tight end Chris Chatterton has finally started to receive interest in his football skills, and with five offers on the table, he is gaining respect. He has two visits set up, but is waiting to hear from one more school before setting the other three. Who are the first schools to jump on board?
“Right now I have offers from UPenn, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth,” he said. “I have set up official visits to UPenn (Oct. 1) and Harvard (Nov. 12). I am still waiting on Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Duke , but those are the only ones I have set up so far.

“I am getting a lot of coaches calling weekly now. I am really looking for a school that is very competitive in football, but one also who has high academics.
“Notre Dame has always been my dream and Coach (Trent) Miles at Notre Dame says that I am in their level two recruits, and that they have four levels, so I am sitting well. I have five offers, but right now I am still deciding.”
Jesuit beat Suwannee 14-7 in the first game of the season, but they ran the ball a lot, so Chatterton was used primarily as a blocker. That did not bother him, however, as evidenced by his attitude going in this week’s game against Robinson.
“I just want to make the playoffs and help the team win,” he said. “I will let recruiting take care of itself, I just want the team to win.”
Chatterton stands 6-foot-3, and weighs 225 pounds, although he hopes to be up to 235 pounds by spring. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.83 seconds, and was named the top tight end in Hillsborough County going into this season by the Tampa Tribune.
An excellent student, Chatterton maintains a 4.14 GPA on a weighted scale and has already scored a 29 on the ACT. He is currently in the top ten percent of his class.
