Because of the much-deserved attention delivered to Florida Varsity's season-long No. 1 team, Bradenton Manatee, second-ranked Tallahassee Lincoln has run to a 7-0 start in as quiet a manner as a team that has scored at least 39 points in every game but one possibly can.
But, fear not, Trojans' fans. Here is a little love, and as you no doubt know, both Manatee and Lincoln reside in FHSAA Class 7A, so a playoff meeting very well could be in the offing.
For now, here is a look at the Trojans by the numbers:
2- Number of blocked field goals so far this season by sophomore John Burt.
3- The number of players with 4-star rankings. Linebacker James Hearns has committed to Florida, receiver Reggie Davis is a Georgia commit and uncommitted wideout Taj Williams claims scholarship offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami and USC, among others. Williams lists the Crimson Tide, South Carolina and South Florida as his leaders.
5- How many times senior running back/defensive back Ben Robinson has run for at least 99 yards in a game this season.
6- The number of times Lincoln has allowed 13 or fewer points in 2012.
11- Number of interceptions by Lincoln's defense so far this year. Junior Kendall Randolph leads the way with three. He already holds offers from Florida State, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.
14.5- Sacks produced by the Trojans' defense in 2012. Junior linebacker Jeff Williams, who has offers from FSU and North Carolina, leads the way with five.
23- Combined number of pancake blocks by LHS blockers so far this year.
49- The combined number of receptions for Williams, Davis and 2-star receiver Myles Gaines in 2012.
770- Total yards receiving by Williams, Davis and Gaines.
