Marcus Davis leads AHD to 30-14 win

DELRAY BEACH -- Marcus Davis showed his playmaking ability to lead the Stallions one step closer on their path to another state championship .
Davis passed for two touchdowns and had two long rushing touchdowns to lift American Heritage Delray past Chaminade Madonna 30-14 in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal.
American Heritage Delray remained unbeaten and advanced to a class 3A regional semifinal game and a showdown at University School (a 27-0 winner over Cardinal Newman) next Friday.
Davis rushed for 206 yards and had 64 passing yards while senior running back Greg Bryant rushed for 116 yards and hauled in a go-ahead 21-yard touchdown catch just before halftime.
"We have a good feeling heading into next week and we are focused on our goal to get back to states," Bryant said.
The Stallions trailed 7-0 in the second quarter before scoring 30 unanswered points.
Marcus Davis connected on a 16-yard touchdown pass to Trenard Davis to tie the score in the second quarter.
Marcus Davis avoided a sack and bought time in the pocket before tossing a jump ball toward the back of the end zone for Bryant for an acrobatic touchdown reception to give the Stallions a 14-7 advantage with less than a minute remaining in the first half.
The Stallions(11-0) began to pull away in the third quarter. On third-and-eight, Marcus Davis raced down the right sideline untouched for a game-changing 83-yard touchdown scamper to give the Stallions a 20-7 lead.
Marcus Davis exploded up the middle of the field for an 81-yard touchdown to help the Stallions pull away in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 30-7.
"Marcus really stepped up for us tonight and he made some big plays," Bryant said.
Quarterback Sean White had 208 passing yards and tossed two touchdowns while also rushing for 77 yards to lead the Lions. White tossed a 15-yard touchdown to Adrian Baker in the second quarter as the Lions(8-3) jumped out to a 7-0 advantage.
Alex Thomas had an 11- yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 30-14.
