When Florida men's basketball head coach Mike White first began recruiting Andrew Nembhard, the Canadian was a standout class of 2019 point guard who had just arrived at Montverde Academy.
Early last month Nembhard reclassified into the 2018 class and the five-star UPlay Canada product saw his recruitment hit a new gear.
Monday White filled perhaps the most important position of need this recruiting cycle when Nembhard informed the Florida coaching staff that he would play his college ball at Florida. Nembhard selected Florida over a final group of schools that also included Gonzaga, Ohio State and USC. He was scheduled to visit Gonzaga this coming weekend.
Nembhard is a 6-foot-4 floor leader with an efficient game thanks to a high basketball IQ, a great feel for the game and elite passing skills -- he may be the best passer in the nation. He is also a more than willing defender.
The No. 26 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, took an official visit to Gainesville this past weekend. He was schedule to visit Florida on October 13 but he pushed the visit up and today he made the decision to become a Gator.
