Bartram Trail high school, quarterback Nathan Peterman, entered this off-season without any scholarship offers. That has definitely changed. He has really worked hard and made a name for himself by participating in camps, 7-on-7 tournaments, and visiting colleges.
"I really took advantage of this off-season and worked to make a name for myself. I camped at Florida State University, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and will be heading to Tennessee here soon. I just worked to really show everyone that I can play at the next level and am continuing to show that I have a terrific work ethic."
Peterman spoke about the camps and was really impressed with the schools, the coaching staffs, and the campuses that he was able to visit.
"Florida State was great. Getting to work out for Coach (Dameyune) Craig and coach (Jimbo) Fisher was something I have been waiting for. They are two of the best around and it will help me going forward. Vanderbilt was great also. It was really nice seeing the campus and the facilities. I enjoyed working out for the coaching staff because they are so passionate. This class they are putting together is very impressive and I can see why they are doing it. Brian Kimbrow was a great pickup for them. I am also looking forward to checking out Tennessee. It will be nice to work out for that coaching staff because they have done well with quarterbacks in the past. Working with great quarterback coaches and great staffs will really help me."
Peterman, who is currently 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, has 10 scholarship offers and would be completely fine if that never changes, but did mention one school that he would like an offer from.
"I am very comfortable with my offer list at this time. I appreciate the offers that I have and some strong schools want me to play for them. A Florida State offer would be nice because of how respected Coach Fisher is, but in the end, I will sign with a great program."
With his senior season only a few months away, Peterman would like to have his college decision made soon and is getting closer to pulling the trigger.
"I really want to make a decision before my senior season and get it out of the way. I want to take a few more visits and at that time, I will be ready to go. I will probably take an official visit during the season to the school I commit to, but outside of that, I probably won't use all my official visits."
Most prospects narrow their lists to a top 5 or a top 10 and Peterman is just the same. He narrowed his list to a top 5 and then took the time to break down what he likes about each program.
"I recently narrowed my list to a top 5, but it could change if a school visit blows me away. Vanderbilt, UConn, Cincinnati, Florida State, and Wake Forest are in my top 5."
Vanderbilt - Coach (James) Franklin is a terrific coach. He brings a lot of enthusiasm and passion to the game and to the program.
Connecticut - The recent success has really opened my eyes. They are a program on the rise. Coach (Paul) Pasqualoni and his NFL background are really impressive. I know I would learn a great deal if I went to school there.
Cincinnati - I just visited there the other day. They have great facilities on campus. I really enjoyed throwing for Coach (Butch) Jones and Coach (Mike) Bajakian. The campus was surprisingly very nice.
Florida State - I had a great time at the FSU camp. I performed well and Coach (Dameyune) Craig and Coach (Jimbo) Fisher were very complimentary. The campus and environment speaks for itself.
Wake Forest - I really like the coaching staff as a whole. They are always competitive and have a great thing going there. I am visiting there this week and am really looking forward to it.
Peterman was recently ranked #99 in the FlaVarsity Top 160, while being listed as the 6th best quarterback in the state.
