There's some clarity after Friday night's slate of games. Most teams wrapped up their season, and await November 16th for the first round of the playoffs.
Niceville took care of business defeating Crestview 42-7, with Eagles Running Back Tayjon Culley racked up 106 yards and four touchdown runs. However the big story was how Niceville's defense shut down the Bulldog offense, only allowing Micah Reed 60 yards rushing, and forcing Crestview QB Dakota Davis to go 15-27 for 147 yards, the lone TD and an interception.
After the big win, Niceville had to await the outcome of the city rivalry between Fort Walton Beach and Choctawhatchee.
The 42 year rivalry lived up to everything expected between the Vikings and the Indians. FWB Quarterback Blake James threw for 404 yards and five TDs, including the game winner to Marquese Davenport with 23 seconds left in the game.
Davenport had four touchdown catches in the Vikings 38-31 victory over Choctaw. Choctaw QB Garrison Floyd threw for one touchdown and added two rushing TD's to keep Choctaw in the game most of the night, but Fort Walton Beach was able to make key stops at the times needed to seal the deal.
In District 1 5A, Gulf Breeze clinched the runner up spot by defeating Rutherford 45-15. The win also marked for the first time in history, Gulf Breeze's football Program would have back to back playoff appearences.
Dolphin QB Andy Creech threw three TD passes in the game, and it was 28-0 before Rutherford even got on the board. The Dolphins record improves to 7-2 on the year, 3-1 in district play, and finished behind District champ West Florida Tech.
