With his size, most would not believe that Williams is very athletic - they would be incorrect. Williams has terrific size and offers some nice agility and quickness off the snap of the ball. He is one of the better interior linemen in the state of Florida and is especially dominant in one-on-one drills during the camp season. Williams really shined at "The Opening" in Oregon last month. He went against some of the best defensive linemen and linebackers in the entire country and was dominant against, just about, everyone that he went against during the week.
It's very obvious that Williams' size is one of his strongest assets, but his light feet and long arms are other factors that college recruiters covet. They see a man that can move around the line, pull if necessary, and get out his stance with great ease. His footwork and athleticism are hard to find for a man of his stature, but it allows him to really hold his ground against some very strong defensive tackles in Florida. They see a player that has long enough arms to create separation from the defensive linemen, while keeping the opposition away from his quarterback.
Williams could afford to lose some bad weight, but to be honest, he doesn't need to lose a lot. When he gets to college, he will reshape his body and tone up. He will get into a proper strength and conditioning program that will get his body to where it needs to be. In turn, he will gain strength, athleticism, and increase his stamina for the entire game.
As mentioned above, he was a standout at "The Opening", but earlier this year, he was named to the "Army All-Combine Team in San Antonio, Texas. He camped at the University of Rutgers this off-season and people raved about his performance in New Jersey. He also took some time to camp at Florida State University and he performed well in Tallahassee.
Duaron Williams is a very talented prospect with a bright future. With the right mindset and the will to be great, Williams will do some great things at the next level. He currently lists a top 6, in no particular order, of: The University of Miami, Rutgers University, The University of Arkansas, The University of Louisville, The University of Nebraska, and Mississippi State University. Any of these schools would be lucky to have this hard working, goal oriented, intelligent offensive lineman.
