IMMOKALEE -- Rivals250 defensive back J.C. Jackson made it official Wednesday, staying true to his commitment to Florida.
The No. 38 player in the FlaVarstiy100 is ranked 243rd in the country and 21st as a cornerback â€" according to Rivals.com.
Jackson was heavily recruited late by nearby Miami and defending national champion Florida State â€" but stayed with the Gators in the end.
"I picked Florida because me and Travaris (Robinson) built a bond. The whole coaching staff and I built a bond. I love them and they love me. Plus I get a chance to play in the SEC."
Before a crowd of about 400 students, family and community members, Jackson was the final player to announce his decision.
"It was pretty tough, but it was the end of the day and I had to make my decision," Jackson said. "It's a great opportunity for me."
Jackson said he's not worried about the future of Florida head coach Will Muschamp, after a 4-8 season.
"Coach Muschamp knows what he's doing," Jackson said. "He's got the right plan and I'm a part of that plan."
Jackson reflected on a year ago â€" as he watched teammates Mackenzie Alexander, Deadrin Senat and Tshumbi Johnson sign Letters of Intent on stage â€" and set his goal.
"I watched them last year and I couldn’t' wait to get this chance," Jackson said.
Three other football players from Immokalee signed letters of intent. Jimmy Bayes and D'Ernest Johnson signed with USF while Johnson Louigene signed with Youngstown State.
