We continue our 30 stops in 30 days with a quick visit with the Cocoa Tigers.
Head coach John Wilkinson brings his Tigers into the spring - coming off a 10-3 state semi-final berth - with five starters returning on offense and five on defense.
"This is a young team," Wilkinson said after the third day of practice. "I can't wait to get the pads on and see what we've got."
The running back position is one of those 'holes to fill' that Wilkinson talks about. Gone is three-year starters Tarean Folston (Notre Dame) and Antwan Lee.
"We are definitely ready to put the pads on," Wilkinson said. "Time to separate the men from the boys and the 7-on-7 superstars from the football players."
One of the running backs inheriting the running game for the Tigers will be Lorenzo Pratt. Pratt filled in throughout the season with Lee and Folston and has experience.
Where the Tigers are lacking experience is linebacker.
"All three of my linebackers graduated," Wilkinson said. "This is by far the youngest group on the team."
Wilkinson will look to plug the holes - including the one left by UCF signee Deondre Barnett.
Right now the Tigers are looking forward to Monday's practice where Wilkinson will begin "putting the puzzle together."
"Getting the kids in the right place is the toughest part."
